Located in the northern part of the state, Omoku is a large town in Rivers State. It is the capital of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area and also the capital  seat of the Oba of Ogba land, the supreme traditional ruler of the Ogba people.

One of the most densely populated towns in Rivers State. Omoku has been described as center of oil and gas activities next only to Port Harcourt, the state capital. Several oil companies, including Shell PetroleumDevelopment Company, Total-Fina-Elf and Nigeria Agip Oil Company all have operational bases in the town. Lately, the city’s infrastructure has been improved with the construction of modern  roads, power generation plant and banks.

Omoku is connected to the national grid and enjoys relatively stable power supply. The city is growing in importance and exerts significant impact on culture, politics, education and sports in Rivers State.

The Oba of Ogbaland who holds court from his magnificent palace wields great influence among traditional rulers in the country. A number of schools, including the Federal Government College of Education (technical) are located in the city. The Go Round Stadium and the Go Round Football Club are also in the city.
